DHARMSALA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN INDIA

Volunteer in India and work on a range of community service projects in Dharamsala, including Teaching Projects – Teaching English to women and children, IT Teaching – Teaching basic IT skills, Childcare Projects – Caring for infants and children, including street children, After school programs/Summer camps – Assisting local teachers and staff with after school programs and summer camps, Renovation of local institutions – Assisting with the renovation of local institutions and creating clean, bright learning spaces, Community Health – Making community health visits/community health awareness training and Women’s Empowerment – Working towards improving women’s rights in society (including job skills training).
This program aims to offer developmental assistance to the Dharamsala community, by forming partnerships with and providing volunteer support to local institutions including schools, orphanages, childcare centers (known as Anganwadi), women’s learning centers, health centers and more. Volunteers work for around four to five hours per day, five days per week, Monday to Friday.

Each day is broken into two blocks of two hours – usually working on two different projects. This structure allows volunteers to contribute their specific skills to the program, enjoying the diversity of working on multiple projects and getting to know a number of individuals and Indian families within the community, whilst ensuring our programs can meet the needs of the community which are continually changing. iSpiice endeavor to directly contribute to the sustainable development of rural Indian communities and to provide our volunteers with meaningful and socially responsible opportunities for travel, service and cultural exchange. iSpiice are always ready to assist the local community in practical ways and we aim to be flexible in the support we offer to meet specific needs within the community.

Community Development Project involves many activities and usually geared more towards volunteers who want to experience a variety of tasks while volunteering. Volunteer work will involve assisting iSpiice with all of our projects, including basic teaching English & computers to children, empowering women, girls, childcare program, street children program and much more these are many and varied. We are always looking for kindhearted & compassionate people to volunteer with us.

KEY POINTS FOR VOLUNTEERS:

• Project growth opportunities are identified by taking counsel from locals who are the real experts when it comes to the communities’ development needs. After discussion with local staff, partner institutions and local community members a project plan is devised and iSpiice volunteers are invited to help meet mutual goals.

• Program includes pickup & drop off from Dharamsala airport, accommodation in volunteer house, hot running showers, wi-fi, with 3 meals everyday & much more. Volunteers can take part in incredible optional add-ons, including a Taj Mahal in Agra & much more. All details are mentioned below.
